Tap the box when it is done. Tap x to drop it.

Shot list

Green means it is on the site. Red means go take it. Tap the button to upload straight into that spot.

Numbers & paperwork

Fill in what you have. Leave the rest for later. Anything a bid form asks for lives here, and the ones the website uses get pushed to it when you save.

Business plan

Not a 40-page thing. Six questions a banker, a bonding agent or a partner would ask. Answer in plain words.

Larry, this is yours.

You have a website, a back door to change it from your phone, and an office behind that door. This page explains all of it in plain words. Print it and stick it on the shop wall.

This is what you need to know

1. foldengrading.com is your website. Anyone can see it.

2. foldengrading.com/admin.html is your back door. Only you can get in.

3. Anything you change in the back door shows on the website right away. No waiting on anybody.

4. You cannot break it. Worst case, call Reese.

1What you have

The websiteFive services, your photo, a job wall, your service area, a bid section, and a quote form that sends to your email.
The back doorChange every word and picture on the site from your phone. Nobody else can.
Capability statementA one-page bid sheet that fills itself in from your numbers. Print it or save it as a PDF.
Your officeTo-do list, photo shot list, license numbers, a short business plan, and an availability calendar.
ToolsMake a JSA on your phone. More coming as you need them.
ReeseBuilt it, hosts it, keeps it running. Call him when something needs adding.

2How to sign in

  1. On your phone, go to foldengrading.com/admin.html. Save it to your home screen so it is one tap next time.
  2. Type your email and the password Reese gave you. Tap Let me in.
  3. You stay signed in on that phone. You will not have to type it every time.
  4. Forgot the password? Call Reese. He resets it in a minute.

3Change the words

Start > Change the words

It walks you through one screen at a time: Contact, Front page, About Larry, Services, Government work, Towns. Change what you want, leave the rest alone. Tap Save these words at the bottom any time. The website updates the second you save.

The best thing you can change first: your quote under "About Larry." Make it something you actually say to customers.

4Change the pictures

Start > Change the pictures

Every spot on the website that holds a picture is a card here. Tap the red Take / pick photo button under a card. Your phone camera opens. Take the shot or pick one from your photos. It uploads by itself and goes on the site. Big photos get shrunk so they load fast out here.

Not sure what to shoot? Open Photo shot list. It tells you what each picture should be, and the button jumps you straight to the right spot.

  • Hold the phone sideways for the big front photo. Put the machine on the right side.
  • Daylight beats dusk. Sky in the shot beats no sky.
  • Before and after of the same job is the best thing you can put on the job wall.

5Your office

To-do listStarts with seven things already on it. Add your own. Tap the box when it is done. Tap x to drop it.
Photo shot listRed means take it. Green means it is on the site. Work the reds down.

6Government work, in order

  1. Register on SAM.gov. It is free. Anybody who says it costs money is a middleman. You get a UEI number and a CAGE code. Type them under Numbers & paperwork.
  2. Get a certificate of insurance from your agent. Ask for one made out to "Folden Grading LLC, any requesting party."
  3. Ask your bonding agent for your single and aggregate limits. Type them in.
  4. Write down three jobs you are proud of under Government work 2 of 2, Past performance.
  5. Get on the vendor lists. McKenzie County, Watford City, NDDOT. Call the auditor or engineer office and say you want to be on the list for excavation, roads and snow. Then print the capability statement and hand it to them.
  6. Watch the bids. County and city websites post them. The capability statement goes in every envelope.

7Tools

Start > Tools

Make a JSA: build a job safety analysis on your phone, one screen at a time, and send it to the crew before the work starts. Same JSA you already know, no clipboard.

Job Photos: jumps to the picture cards so you can snap before, during and after on site.

More tools get added as you need them. Tell Reese what is a pain in your day and that is the next one.

8Rules

  • Do not give the password to anybody. Not a hand, not a customer. Reese can add a second person if you ever want one.
  • Only put pictures on the site that you took or have the right to use.
  • If a customer is in a photo, ask them first.
  • Change the words any time. If you make it worse, change it back. Nothing is permanent.
  • Stuck? Call Reese. That is what he is for.
